The Use of a Solution-Focused Interview With a Reflecting Team Format: Evolving Thoughts From Clinical Practice

A project utilizing a reflecting team concept from the format developed by Tom Andersen and his colleagues in North Norway is discussed Our project suggests the use of multiple reflecting positions by the therapy team and the family. In this article, we will discuss the teams pre-session reflection with the family situated behind the one-way mirror. The use of a session and post-session reflection with the family present will be discussed. This process further describes the use of deShazer's solution-focused questions and White's narrative discourse throughout all phases of the reflecting format. A case example will be used as an illustration. The article concludes with a discussion on the advantages of this type of reflecting team format.
